In my sixth World Championships, TEAM USA Triathlon COO, Tim Yount (second image), asked me to Captain our country delegation.
What an absolute treat.
Racing not just for myself. But for my country. For ideals. For freedom. Generations ago, USA welcomed my Opa, a Jewish boy who was the only one in his family to survive Nazi concentrations camps. Everyone else gassed. I wear the Stars and Stripes for them.
Now, his grandson, a US citizen, captains Team USA into the World Championships. In the race, I finished top American and top 20 overall.
Biggest takeaway? We rise and fall to the level of training, not hope.
